The work tells of a journey that traces some of the threads weaving the many-sided essence of the feminine. Across an action balanced between strength and contemplation, women open their wisdom to the world like a fan woven from years, intelligence and emotion.
It is a powerful narrative built from solos and choral choreographies perfectly threaded together, bringing out both the singularity of each performer and the overwhelming force of the group. This woman, who is every woman, moves through the story and shares with the audience her knowledge, contradictions, loves and heartbreaks, strengths, fragilities, insecurities, dissatisfactions and solitudes. With her soul laid open she speaks of her relationship with the body, with desire, with motherhood and with an equality not yet reached.
The choreographies gather a feminine diversity that takes hold of the action and conquers the stage: five women storming the stage of life. Women of strong singularity, who think the plurality of the gender they represent in choreutic and musical terms, beyond physical, ethnic, religious, cultural or aesthetic difference. Daytime women who dance to a principle of harmony, measure and symmetry, only to break and reassemble it, gathering through their bodies, movements and dreams the body and the becoming of life. Women who think, dance and sing: intimate, pensive, joyful, ironic and comic. Women who pay homage to all the women of the world.
MUJER explores the popular and classical musical repertoire, with a particular enquiry into the music of Vivaldi. It works with the scores, reinterpreting and adapting classical fragments in a flamenco key, in a free and hospitable dialogue between classical music, popular music and flamenco, with The Four Seasons as its axis.
